Websites, shops and portals, built properly

I scope, build, test and hand over, targeting direct builds up to around £50,000 where the platform and scope fit. For larger programmes, I work on your side as a fractional technical delivery lead, managing agencies, budgets and the roadmap across platforms.

More than brochure sites

In agency delivery roles I led bespoke builds from brief to launch, alongside relaunches and platform migrations.

  • A product configurator for a marine business.
  • A coworking and office booking portal with digital access codes.
  • A secure client document portal.
  • A land-measurement tool using Google Maps, with product recommendations.
  • Magento to WooCommerce migrations, including a 250,000-product catalogue.

Make your Magento agency budget work harder

  • A roadmap that balances maintenance, bugs, upgrades and features against the agency hours and project budget available.
  • Retainer reviews: agreed priorities, planned and actual hours, progress and the next decisions.
  • Patch and upgrade planning with your developer: priorities, clean staging, testing and an agreed release schedule.
  • Upgrade and Hyvä planning, costed in milestones before anyone starts.
  • An honest view on whether to stay on Magento or move to WooCommerce or Shopify, and what each would cost.
  • Magento implementation delivered by your developers or a specialist agency, with me leading delivery on your side.
  • Scoped updates to smaller stores I’ve built and know; inherited stores assessed before direct work is offered.

Care plans that keep it safe and useful

Care plans keep WordPress, WooCommerce and Shopify sites safe, backed up and checked every month. Changes and fixes are extra: quoted as they come at £85 an hour, or as a monthly retainer of agreed hours. Update timing and release arrangements are agreed in scope. Magento and Adobe Commerce work has a separate scope: agency delivery leadership or selected smaller-store updates after review. Not sure which? Five questions

Essentials

£95 a month

  • WordPress updates tested on staging
  • Daily backups, uptime and security monitoring
  • Form checks and a monthly report

Commerce

£135 a month

  • Everything in Essentials
  • Checkout, payment and booking checks
  • A test order each month, upgrades planned ahead

Shopify care

£65 a month

  • Storefront and checkout journey checks
  • Theme and app update review
  • A monthly report

Shopify care focuses on storefront, theme, app and integration checks. Shopify runs the hosting and core platform updates. Store-data backups and recovery are scoped separately; Shopify subscriptions and app charges are paid by you.

How a build runs

  1. Scope

What it must do, agreed as milestones with acceptance criteria and a fixed or ranged price.

  2. Build

Built directly, or with specialists I manage, with progress you can see.

  3. Check

Tested against the agreed criteria before anything is signed off.

  4. Hand over and look after

Documentation, training and, if you want it, a care plan.

Support that grows with your business

Start with the work you need now. As the business grows, I can keep the platform knowledge and roadmap with you, building directly where the scope fits and leading agencies when the programme needs a wider team.

Build what you need now

Direct website, shop, portal and integration builds typically up to around £50,000, with the platform, scope and price agreed before work starts.

Websites and eCommerce

Improve as you grow

Care, scoped improvements, integrations and automation, with regular priorities and roadmap reviews sized to the work and budget available.

Support for growing businesses

Lead the wider programme

For larger builds and ongoing agency programmes, fractional technical delivery leadership on your side: the brief, suppliers, retainer, budget, testing and roadmap owned together.

Fractional delivery leadership

Around £50,000 is a guide to the direct-build work I target. Complexity and specialist needs can call for an agency earlier, and delivery support can start at any growth stage. The approach applies across platforms; implementation scope is agreed for each project.

What are you trying to get moving?

Tell me where things stand, what needs to change and any date you are working towards.

You might have a project to scope, systems that aren’t joining up, or a task that keeps taking too much time. You don’t need a finished brief to start a conversation.

Start with what’s getting in the way.

A few lines about the situation, the people involved and what a useful result would look like are enough. I’ll come back to you personally with a practical next step.
