Someone accountable, without the permanent hire

Client-side ownership of platform, delivery, agencies and budgets, across WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento and Adobe Commerce. Ongoing support as you grow, with agreed authority, priorities and review points.

From £3,600 a month for a day a week, or £6,800 for two

Talk through your situation

When delivery needs an owner

  • Agencies and suppliers are managing themselves, and it shows.
  • You’re between hires, or not ready for a full-time head of delivery.
  • A programme is drifting and leadership wants a straight answer.
  • Budgets and scope need someone watching them every week.

You may need experienced delivery support while a role is being recruited, during a period of change, or as your builds and agency spend grow. Beyond the direct builds I target at around £50,000, the role can move into technical delivery leadership on your side. It can also start earlier when the complexity or supplier involvement calls for it.

Clear responsibilities and agreed decisions.

I take ownership of the platform roadmap, delivery commitments, agency management, and the commercial picture. Before starting, we agree what I decide, what I recommend, and what happens when I am not in the room.

Turn the agency retainer into a roadmap

For Magento and Adobe Commerce clients, the recurring agency spend can be substantial. In my agency experience, builds of £80,000 or more were often followed by retainers of 60–200 hours a month. The need is to connect those hours to the work the business actually needs.

I work with you and the agency to make maintenance visible, prioritise bugs and features, plan upgrades, and agree what the retainer will deliver. Larger projects get their own milestones and funding plan around the cash the business can commit.

See the capacity, cost and progress

  • Maintenance and improvement capacity shown separately in one backlog.
  • Planned and actual hours reviewed with the agency each month.
  • Priorities, dependencies and acceptance checks agreed before work starts.
  • Any carry-over of hours agreed under the agency contract.
  • Retainer work and additional project spend mapped to a shared roadmap.

My fee covers the agreed delivery-lead days. The agency’s implementation retainer and project fees are separate.

What it is not

  • Not a permanent hire by another name. It runs for an agreed term, with review points.
  • Not a replacement for your developers or your agency’s team. I lead the delivery, the suppliers and the commercial picture. They still do the build.
  • Not open-ended authority. We agree what I decide, what I recommend and what stays with your team before it starts.
  • Not transaction due diligence, investment advice or formal assurance. Those need a separately agreed scope and the right specialists.

You work with me, not a team behind me

  • Direct access. The person you brief is the person who does the work. You can call or email me directly.
  • Capacity. Time is agreed in days a week before we start, so you know what you are getting.
  • Continuity. Everything I run is built so you can see where things stand without having to ask. The work is documented as it goes, and it ends with a named person in your team taking ownership.
  • Specialists. Where the work needs a developer, designer or other specialist, I bring them in for that project and manage them.

Delivery leadership I’ve already done

Delivered while leading delivery inside digital agencies, on behalf of their clients. I ran it; I didn’t own the client relationship commercially. Clients aren’t named; I’m happy to talk through the detail.

A multi-site portfolio

For an international watch group: primary delivery contact across several concurrent Adobe Commerce sites, covering B2C, B2B, several regions and internal staff-facing instances. Engaged from product managers through to CFO level.

The expensive answer was wrong

On a multi-region data alignment, my own team’s instinct was a custom build. I argued against it, took the bounded option and re-authorised each pass against an explicit cost gate. It landed on time.

“Done” agreed before the work

I’ve set up acceptance-criteria-first delivery standards more than once, starting in the bug pipeline where rework was most visible, and writing the first criteria myself.

How an engagement runs

  1. A conversation

What needs owning, and what success looks like.

  2. Agree the role

What I decide, what I recommend, and how many days each month, from £3,600 a month.

  3. The first 30 days

A written view of commitments, suppliers, costs and priorities.

  4. Every month

Reporting, supplier reviews and decisions made against written criteria.

Let’s talk

Support that grows with your business

Start with the work you need now. As the business grows, I can keep the platform knowledge and roadmap with you, building directly where the scope fits and leading agencies when the programme needs a wider team.

Build what you need now

Direct website, shop, portal and integration builds typically up to around £50,000, with the platform, scope and price agreed before work starts.

Improve as you grow

Care, scoped improvements, integrations and automation, with regular priorities and roadmap reviews sized to the work and budget available.

Support for growing businesses

Lead the wider programme

For larger builds and ongoing agency programmes, fractional technical delivery leadership on your side: the brief, suppliers, retainer, budget, testing and roadmap owned together.

Fractional delivery leadership

Around £50,000 is a guide to the direct-build work I target. Complexity and specialist needs can call for an agency earlier, and delivery support can start at any growth stage. The approach applies across platforms; implementation scope is agreed for each project.

What are you trying to get moving?

Tell me where things stand, what needs to change and any date you are working towards.

You might have a project to scope, systems that aren’t joining up, or a task that keeps taking too much time. You don’t need a finished brief to start a conversation.

Start with what’s getting in the way.

A few lines about the situation, the people involved and what a useful result would look like are enough. I’ll come back to you personally with a practical next step.
